To celebrate Jon's 30th birthday, we took an amazing 5 day trip to London. London is such an awesome city, because it feels as big as New York but it has the charm of a New England city like Boston. My favorite part about it is how seriously they take interior design. Every building and storefront is so uniquely designed and thoughtfully crafted. It definitely doesn't hurt that every store is dripping with beautiful florals.
Day 1 consisted of exploring central London (mostly the Soho and Covent Garden area), tea at Aubaine Selfridges and dinner at Dishoom. On day 2, we walked what felt like the entire Kensington and Noting Hill area. We had lunch at the famous Churchill Arms and dinner at BAO,which was so good. On day 3 we had my favorite meal of the entire trip - brunch at The Breakfast Club. From there we explored north/east London which consisted of St. Paul's Cathedral, The Millennium Bridge, The Tower of London and The Tower Bridge. We also went to the top of the Shard for 360 views of the city. Since Jon's favorite food is Indian, we had his birthday dinner at Tandoor, which we both really enjoyed.
Keep reading for Day 4 and 5!
One of my favorite parts about visiting London was just walking down the beautiful streets and neighborhoods in the Kensington/Notthing Hill area with a coffee in hand. When I was planning our trip, I discovered what "mews" were (I'm a sheltered American, I know). For those who also don't know, a mew is "a row or street of houses or apartments that have been converted from stables or built to look like former stables."
On day 4, we explored Primrose Hill in Regent's Park neighborhood and walked the famous Abbey Road in Northern London. Afterward, we went south of the city to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby and had plans to see the Natural History Museum but skipped it. Instead we did something that required no walking - a movie haha! We had dinner at one of Jon's favorite places to get ramen in NYC - Ipuddo. Jon says it's just as delicious in London, but since I don't like ramen I can't vouch. Instead I get their delicious buns, and no, I wont embarrass myself with saying how many I can eat before getting full. Our last day consisted of a special brunch at Sketch London and just hanging out before heading back home in the evening.
This weekend we're taking a trip to Buffalo, NY to celebrate Jon's sister's bridal party! Shortly afterwards, we're planning a weekend getaway to Cape Cod.
Thanks so much for stopping by :)
